Cute shoujo mangas you could read in one sitting

Most shoujo mangas I've read usually are long but only few mangas actually reach the 100 chapter mark. Since the genre mostly talks about romance and self growth of the character so I could understand why some of these mangas are long.

However, we will put into light shoujo mangas that you could read in one sitting. Mangas that are more than one chapter but it's not really that long that you have to put a late night sleep to finish it. Mangas when you start reading, you'll finish it in a short time frame. Take note: All of these stories are completed!

1. Boku wa Kisu de Uso wo Tsuku by Toma Rei

Kitazono Meiko fell asleep in the library and gets woken up by a kiss. The only problem is there were several suspects who were there at that time. The story follows home girl finding out who the f*ck kissed her without consent?

The story is short but somehow fulfilled its purpose to properly tell and reveal who is the mysterious kisser who didn't ask for consent. In addition, the girl is cute—I love her expressions so much and I couldn't blame the men in this manga why they fall for her.

2. Hoshi to Kuzu-Don't worry be Happy by Hoshiya Kaori

Anzu, our female lead, is a poor student but ambitious—her first step to pursue a bright future is becoming the president of the student council but yeah, not everything in life, we get what we want. Sometimes (not really sometimes), life just rewards the privileged and that is Yamabuki, a boy who is equally ambitious and egocentric.

The story focuses on the development of their relationship. It's a mixture of comedy and cute romance that makes this old hag flutter her heart. All the characters are likable, especially our female lead who is contrary to the bubbly personality of a shoujo manga character. Due to her economic status, she's practical and her takes about life are endearing.

3. Kimi ga kirai na koi no hanashi by Mizuki Sora

Now, there is something about fictional rude attractive assholes who are actually sweet that have become my guilty pleasure. It's not really cute but I still gobble that up.

If you're not interested with rude assholes paired with indulgent goody good girls, this story isn't for you. Honestly, this story isn't what I really recommend to people but yeah fuck it, I still find it cute. If you have the same horrible taste I have, please do read it with me and let's gush over it.

I won't say anymore, just read it if you dare.

4. Toshishita no Otokonoko by Chihiro Hiro

Toshishita no Otokonoko

The synopsis: Nanakusa Mihoro is a responsible girl who subconsciously takes care of people because she's the eldest and looks after her four younger brothers at home. One day, on the way to school—she comes across Miyao Chiei, who happens to be her kohai in school.

The story is light-hearted and doesn't really have that heavy drama. There are problems but I think it just involves with the immaturity of the guy and the clumsiness of the girl but yeah, you kinda still will get on with that and forgive it. Come on, they're high schoolers—they are both clumsy since it's their first relationship.

5. Shunkan Gradation by Chihiro Hiro

Shunkan Gradation

Written by the same author of the previous manga. The mangaka really has a beautiful art and I'm a sucker for good art. The story is also light hearted, and really doesn't have heavy drama that you'll cry.

The manga has some cute romance, and their interaction is cute. There is some touch of love triangle but I don't think it's really the main focus of the story. To sum up the story, girly is in a club with two dudes and one girl—they help things around in school, like doing chores such as cleaning, picking out weeds, moving something and they also help out their teachers.

It actually reminds me of Sket Dance with the helping but the story focused more on romance and friendship (??).

6. Watashitachi wa Koi wo Shiranai by Akiba Ruiki

Watashitachi wa Koi wo Shiranai

Yuki Amano is annoyed when she founds out she is sitting next to the popular boy Hayato Kuga. Since, they sit next to each other, they interact more and Amano learned that Kuga is the same as her who is clueless about love.

The story tackles in to their day to day interaction, and how their relationship has developed without them realizing because they are oblivious as hell. Both of them are cute and their interactions makes you giggle but also frustrated because they actually have interest with each other but they don't know that!

7. Ojousama no Himitsu by Shiraishi Yuki

Ojousama no Himitsu♥

After transferring from an elite girls school, Haru, by her expression and manner, is seen by many as an 'Ojou-sama'. But in truth Haru really is a countryside chick with a fierce attitude! Though she tries not be discovered, she is seen in an unlikely situation by none other but a classmate, Nagase!

I remembered reading this a long time ago, I enjoyed it because of the cute dynamic between the two main characters. Try reading it if you like your women who are cool and athletic but at the same time, really cute and shy.

8. Zannen Na Sasaki-san by Shiraishi Yuki

I really thought this manga is just a one shot but behold, Shiraishi has blessed us with another chapter and an extra chapter. So yeah, it's just three chapters and honestly, I really want to know more.

The story is about a couple, the girl is popular because she's really cute but she has a secret and that is she has a hand fetish. To add, she really loves her boyfriend's hand. So, the story follows the girl trying to hide her hand fetish from her boyfriend.

It's really adorable and it's regrettable how it's just so short. Sigh I want more...

9. Chiguhagu Planet by Meguro Amu

An adorable manga about a girl who has a strong sense of responsibility to take care of people and a boy who has the aura where you want to protect him at all cost—basically, a baby boy.

The female lead has done what the readers want to do, to protect the boy at all cost. Anyways, this manga is light-hearted and it just has four chapters!

10. Hatsukoi Canvas by Akaza Samamiya

Sakurako is a freshman who has trouble making friends because of her weird drawings. That all changes when the gentle Hayama discovered her talent and invited her to join his group. Feeling acknowledged for the first time, the innocent Sakurako slowly warms up to her new friends.

To be honest, the first thing that came to my mind when I read the synopsis: now, why would she have trouble having friends when her style just doesn't particularly meet the standards of society?

The story is basically unpopular girl x popular boy trope that I love to eat up, it has some drama going on but please do try reading it!

11. Fly High! by Oouchi Natsumi

Cute art and cute boys to boot? Check.
Bubbly, energetic airhead female lead? Check.
A subtle love triangle? Check.
Some sad back stories? Check.
Female lead standing up to the oppressors slash the bullies in school? Check!

12. Mistress Fortune by Arina Tanemura

No words, head full of praise to Arina Tanemura.

Okay, I'll be honest—this story is not really fleshed out because of its shortness. Like, I want to know more about the main couple, the villains they will meet. I guess Tanemura just wants to make a story about two cute high schoolers who have a side job in beating aliens.

13. Zettai Fukujuu Idol by Nakamura Yukichi

Zettai Fukujuu Idol

Please do not stone me if you won't like this story because once again, this story is a guilty pleasure of mine. Yes—it is once again a story about rude attractive assholes that have soft heart for the girl they love. I'm just putting it out here so I could check if there are people who have the same horrible taste with me.

14. 24 Colors: Hatsukoi no Palette by Chiba Kozue

24 Colors: Hatsukoi no Palette

Nanaka loves to paint. So when she enters high school, she gets excited at the prospect of jointing the arts club. However, there's only two members—the mysterious Chihaya and the energetic Kento. They're both good-looking guys, and Chihaya shares Nanaka's love for painting!

I really love stories about artists, that's why I immediately eat this up. I love the tension of the two characters, like how they have their own world when they are together. There's a subtle love triangle and I admit, I also don't mind if girly would end up to the second guy. The story also has some drama because the guy is kinda complicated in his own way.

Is it light-hearted? I don't really think so but it also is a story that is also not heavy drama. I can't really put into words what it makes me feel—I just think it's neat.

15. Watashi no Ookami-kun by Nogiri Youko

Kusonoki Komugi lives with her mother in Tokyo and can't get along with classmates. Because of her mother's business trip, she has to stay with her father in Hokkaido for a year. She thinks she will have opportunities to make new friends. She got to sit next to Ookami Yuu, a popular boy who tells her she smells good. One day, she discovers his secret...

Yes, yes. The boys are cute. It also has a good plot and has a mixture of some heavy drama that stems from the character's past. There is also some love triangle that will give you a hard time in choosing because both of them are charming in their own way.

Final Notes:

Once again, do not stone me if you don't like some of my recommendations because hey, we have our own taste in what we want. All of these mangas are completed and I think you can easily access it in other manga streaming sites. So, move along now children...read shoujo mangas and also recommend me some too.

By the way, if you have the means to support these mangas I have recommended. Please do support them and buy the official english translation! Thank you.
